Grays with medium intensity can work well in a bedroom. It’s a soothing hue come nightfall, but not too dark during the day.

Grow Up

Never too soon to join the fandom! Gray is a decidedly untraditional choice for nursery walls, but it’s actually a pretty smart choice. It’s a restful hue for an infant or toddler, and once your child is old enough to start choosing colors, it’s a neutral that can pair with any shade.

Gothic goes whimsical with this pattern taken from a mid-century Japanese pen-and-ink drawing. Look closely—it’s actually flocks of flying birds.

Vivid Built-In Backer

This bold hue demands attention for shelved collections. Here, two colors from the Patriots palette are used.

Glossy Sangria

Casings finished in steeped red make for walls nearly as delectable as the dessert table.

Saturated Scarlet Benches

Consider painting wood furnishings in a complementary tone to gray or blue walls. Standard benches in a saturated hue add fun perches in underused space.

Maintain the Flow

With flooring that continues from one room to the next, wall color can differentiate rooms without breaking up the overall flow. Floor-to-ceiling gray—trim included—coordinates with this bedroom’s bold, blue furnishings as well as the white-and-gold bath.
